Filament 3DGence BVOH
BVOH is a water-soluble support material, enabling the creation of advanced printouts featuring complex geometries.
BVOH Filament description
Manufactured by 3DGence BVOH is a support material that can be dissolved by pouring into a tank with hot water. Compared with the breakaway supports, BVOH is very easy to remove. To detach the main model from the support, you need to place the printout in a tank filled with warm water. However, it can not be a temperature that threatens the building material. Moreover, ensuring optimal conditions, such as in an ultrasonic cleaner, will dissolve the BVOH filament in just a few minutes. To sum up, the post-processing stage with BVOH is quick, cheap, operator-friendly, and safe for the model.
The filament is designed for use with professional 3D printers equipped with double extruders, where the first one dispenses the filament to create the main model and the second one extrudes the support material. Both INDUSTRAL F421 and INDUSTRAL F350 by 3DGence have double extruders, thereby being suitable to work with BVOH and other soluble materials.
Key benefits of BVOH
• safety of the main structure,
• easy and less labor-intensive post-processing,
• eco-friendly — it can be disposed of in a private home sewage system,
• compatible with multiple filaments.
Industrial applications of BVOH
While selecting the suitable support material, both the main polymer and the temperature of printing should be taken into account. If you have any problems with adjusting the right support to your 3D printing plans, feel free to consult the business case with 3DGence engineers. Our experience shows that BVOH is a good choice for functional prototyping, complex geometry models, moving elements, decorations, and detailed printouts.
BVOH: good to know
BVOH offers easy and safe post-processing, however, it has some requirements in terms of storing. It is worth remembering, BVOH should be kept in a sealed bag to prevent moisture absorption that decreases its properties.
The filament should be stored in a dry place, e.g., in a sealed bag, in order to avoid moisture absorption. An improper storage environment results in limited properties of BVOH and may affect your printing project.
