Filament BASF Forward AM Ultrafuse® PET
Ultrafuse PET combines two aspects: it is easy to print and durable, thus, many engineers find it an useful 3D printing filament.
Ultrafuse PET (by German manufacturer BASF Forward AM) is amorphous Polyethylene that drops into the category of advanced engineering polymers. This thermoplastic offers high resolution and good layer adhesions. Comparing this material to PLA, PET is considerably stronger and keeps similar ease of printing. Ultrafuse PET is fully recyclable, and it complies with food-safe requirements (LFGB and Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004, the European Plastics Regulation). PET works with every device, both desktop and industrial 3D printers. However, better results are achievable when you use a professional device. Printing PET filament on a desktop device increases the risk of shrinking or cracking, while an industrial 3D printer with heated chamber provides suitable temperature and moisture absorption, which makes the printout stronger and more durable.
Key benefits of PET
• watertight printouts are possible,
• strong layer adhesion,
• premium food-approved raw material,
• ease of processing.
Support materials compatible with PET
PET is compatible with 3DGence ESM-10 support material, offering a versatile solution for complex 3D printing applications. The compatibility with ESM-10 enables the use of soluble supports, which can be easily removed thus simplifying post-processing. Utilizing supports in 3D printing provides several advantages, including the ability to create intricate geometries, overhangs, and detailed internal structures that would be impossible to achieve with unsupported prints. This compatibility not only enhances the design freedom for engineers and designers but also improves the overall quality and precision of the final printed parts.
Industrial applications of Ultrafuse PET
This filament may be used for multiple applications. Jigs & fixtures, prototyping, and automotive parts can be manufactured with Ultrafuse PET.
Ultrafuse PET: good to know
The filament is available in two color versions. To obtain the best result of printing with Ultrafuse PET, we strongly recommend you use one of our true industrial 3D printers: INDUSTRY F350 or INDUSTRY F421. Both devices have interchangeable modules and heated chambers, thus, they can deliver the best quality printouts with Ultrafuse PET. The printing profile is available in our 3DGence SLICER 4.0. PET does not require drying before printing.
